Fine dining is one of the reasons visitors love Cape Cod and the Classic Inns of Historic Cape Cod Bay. Not only does each inn offer wonderful breakfasts, guests enjoy the innkeepers’ knowledge of local restaurants with superb food, service and ambiance. Here are some of our favorites.
The Roadhouse Café in Hyannis has a 30 year record of excellence. The interior is classy yet casual and cheerful. The menu is extensive with outstanding pasta, seafood, beef, chicken, veal, pork and duck dishes. The wine list is impressive. And unforgettable desserts!
The Red Pheasant Inn in Dennis has been family run for over 30 years. The main dining room is a charming 200 year old barn with local art on the walls. The garden room has a wall length window looking out at – yeah – the garden! And its walls are painted by a local artist. The ambiance is casual and elegant. The menu has a mix of incredibly delicious seafood and non-seafood dishes and there is always a game dish. The accompanying wine list is outstanding. Always a very enjoyable dining experience!
The Barnstable Restaurant and Tavern in Barnstable Village is a warm and comfortable place for lunch or dinner – inside or outside in the warmer months. The wide ranging menu runs from fine dining, Italian specialties, seafood and meats – all excellent! There is lighter fare too – pizzas, burgers, salads, etc. There are regular “special” dinners including wine or beer themes. And Friday late afternoon music on the patio is very popular!
The Dolphin Restaurant in Barnstable Village has a friendly and comfortable ambiance and outstanding food. The Dolphin has been family run for 3 generations. The restaurant has been named “Best mid-cape seafood” for 4 years in a row – as voted on by Cape Codders! Creatively prepared non-seafood dishes are on the menu too. And great desserts!
|Spanky’s Clam Shack|
We would be remiss if a great place for lobster and steamers was not on our list. Spanky’s Clam Shack on the water in Hyannis is just the place! You can dine indoors or outside at this fun and friendly restaurant. Don’t miss the lobster salad – a huge portion of Cape Cod’s freshest on a bed of fresh salads.
